The U.S. Small Business Administration, established in 1953, provides financial, technical and management assistance to help Americans start, run, and grow their businesses. With a portfolio of business loans, loan guarantees and disaster loans worth more than $45 billion, in addition to a venture capital portfolio of $13 billion, SBA is the nation's largest single financial backer of small businesses. Last year, the SBA offered management and technical assistance to more than one million small business owners. The SBA also plays a major role in the government's disaster relief efforts by making low-interest recovery loans to both homeowners and businesses. The US SBA is dedicated to providing customer-oriented, full-service programs and accurate, timely information to the entrepreneurial community.
Small Business Assistance Program (SBAP)
Utah Small Business Assistance Program (SBAP) SBAPs have been established in each state to help small businesses comply with requirements of
the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments. Small businesses affected include but are not limited to:
agricultural chemical applicators, asphalt manufacturers and applicators, auto body shops,
bakeries, dry cleaners, foundries, furniture manufacture and repair, gasoline service stations,
general contractors, hospitals, lumber mills, metal finishers, newspapers, pest control operators,
photo finishing labs, print shops, service and repair, and wood finishers. Technical assistance
offered includes: informing businesses of applicable Clean Air Act requirements and helping them
deal with specific technical, administrative and compliance problems; disseminating up-to-date
information about the Clean Air Act; and referring businesses to environmental auditors who can
help them evaluate a company's work practices, monitoring procedures, and record-keeping.
