We built Homes Across America for you; you build it too!

If you know of resource efficient homes and agencies that provide technical assistance in your state, please tell us. We will contact them and invite them to be part of the showcase and you will receive a Homes Across America mug to show our appreciation.

Need homes:
Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Virgin Islands, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming

We are collecting information for Homes Across America from all 50 states plus Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. We are looking for:

  • Not-for-profit agency contacts with expertise in resource efficient building

  • Homes built for comfort, health, performance and durability (For more information on our criteria for selecting homes, please visit the Submit page.)

HOMES: If you give us a contact, we'll follow up. We are currently investigating about sixty possible homes, some from national programs like: American Lung Association Health House, Habitat for Humanity, Real Goods Demonstration Homes, and the Building America program. We are also accepting applications from builders, designers, sponsors and homeowners.

Building Smart - Women's Opportunity and Resource Development Home, Missoula, MT

We are looking for both demonstration homes (built for the purpose of collecting performance data and demonstrating new technologies) and marketable homes (intended for people to live in). We are seeking homes with a variety of features, representing the all scales of affordability, and both new construction and green remodeling projects.

AGENCIES: We have identified at least one agency in each state (except those listed above) with expertise in resource efficient building. Many of these contacts are from the state-based USDA Extension Housing Programs. We hope to enhance the collection with many more state-sponsored and not-for-profit agencies with expertise in green and high performance home building.

Representing a variety of geographical areas is important but we also want a variety of expertise and technology showcased. So send us all your ideas, whether the state is listed above or not.

Homes Across America is a partnership project of:
