IX. CONCLUSION

Hazardous chemicals and their waste can be found throughout our schools, from science labs and art rooms to custodial closets and photography labs. Proper, conscientious management of these chemicals, combined with the adoption of pollution prevention efforts, will help to minimize the risks associated with these chemicals.

At a minimum, chemical management should include:

  • Training & Preparation
  • Inventory
  • Disposal
  • Storage & Labeling
  • Pollution Prevention
  • Purchasing

Effective implementation of a chemical management plan will contribute considerably to the overall health and stability of the school environment.
