MATERIAL EXCHANGES

Material exchanges are an excellent way to practice one of the three R's relating to conservation and waste reduction, RE-USE.  Material and waste exchanges are an option for dealing with certain hazardous surplus, such as paints.  The City of Portland for example has a used paint store, paint is used for its intended purpose and is diverted from landfills.  At a construction specific waste exchange, one might find a great set of windows or old lumber perfect for your next project.  Surplus materials are economical for the buyer, and may help the seller avoid disposal fees.
